Doomscroller Job: What It Is, Who Is Hiring and How Applying Reportedly Works

By Influish Editorial Team · Published

Short answer

The “doomscroller” job is a paid role announced by Influish, a company described in news reports as based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in an Instagram video posted on 4 November 2026. According to those reports, the person hired would watch Instagram Reels, spot emerging trends and report what is going viral.

No salary, deadline, number of openings or eligibility rules have been disclosed in any report we verified (as of 6 November 2026).

We do not link to an application form: when we last checked (6 November 2026), no official Influish page for this opportunity was live. If an official page goes live, we will link it here clearly labelled. Until then, treat any “apply here” link from an unofficial source with caution.

What do we actually know about the doomscroller job?

The table below is the core of this guide. Every detail carries a status. “Confirmed in multiple reports” means at least two independent outlets whose pages we loaded and read say the same thing. “Reported, not independently confirmed” means the detail comes from the company via the media, or appears in only some reports. “Not confirmed” means no source we could verify states it.

Where should you start?

Each guide answers one question in depth, so you can go straight to the one you came for.

What happened, in brief?

On 4 November 2026, an Instagram video from the account @gangsofstartup — whose bio names the startup as Influish — announced that the company wanted to pay someone to scroll Instagram Reels. News outlets picked the story up the following day: we found and read nine reports published on 5 November 2026, in English, Hindi, Marathi and Malayalam. All of them describe the same basic offer. They differ on smaller points, such as who is speaking in the video and whether the job is full-time.

By the time the articles were written, the video had more than 300,000 views, and Influish reportedly said more than 11,000 people had requested the application form. Both numbers were moving quickly, so treat them as snapshots from 5 November rather than current figures. For a full, dated record of which outlet published what and when, see the doomscroller story timeline (our sister guide, Doomscroller News Tracker).

What is still unknown?

The most-searched details about any job are exactly the ones nobody has published here. As of 6 November 2026, no report we verified and no official Influish channel we checked states:

If you see a precise salary figure or a “last date to apply” elsewhere, look for where it came from. We could not find one in any report we were able to verify.

Is this the same as the 2025 doomscroller job?

No. Many searches for “doomscroller job” surface an earlier, unrelated posting. In August 2025, Storyboard18 reported that Monk-E, a Mumbai-based media and talent management company, was hiring “doomscrollers” through a LinkedIn post by its co-founder and CEO. That posting asked for more than six hours of daily Instagram and YouTube screen time, proven with screenshots, and applications by email.

This guide covers only the Influish story. If you read about a six-hour screen-time rule or an email application, that detail almost certainly belongs to the 2025 Monk-E post.

How does this guide decide what to say?

We read every article ourselves, record its publication time and author, and only state something as fact when at least two independent reports agree. Claims from a single outlet are labelled. One indexed article — Moneycontrol’s — would not load for us (it returned an access-denied error), so we take nothing from it. This guide is published by Influish, the company in the story; the about page explains what that means for how we write.
